Very perfumed, bright and crunchy. Rose petals, lemons and other citrus fruits. Medium body with citrus and raspberry flavors. Linear and long with lovely energy and vivacity. Drinkable now, but better in a couple of years.
Deep and highly aromatic on the nose - freshly picked red berries with dried herbs and a touch of liquorice. Supple and forward, this has nice energy and bounce. Creamy, super juicy and with a cooling mineral bite that comes across as slightly spiced with graphite and pencil lead accents and a slight chalky powderiness on the tongue. Really lovely frame and focus. Great to drink now, has plenty of punch but with lovely finesse too. Easy to enjoy this.
The 2022 Domaine de la Solitude is soft, open-knit and very appealing. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, orange peel and cinnamon build effortlessly in the glass. Silky, plush tannins wrap it all together is style. This is a very pretty, floral wine from Martillac.
Game and cinnamon aromas give the spicy character of this wine. Tight black fruits, with layers of tannins and acidity indicate a wine ready to age. Drink this wine, produced by the Bernard family on a vineyard owned by a religious order, from 2027.
Spicy red and black fruits, savory tobacco, spicy wood, and leather notes all shine in the 2022 Domaine De La Solitude, a medium-bodied 2022 with a beautiful overall balance, a supple, layered mouthfeel, and nicely integrated tannins. It plays on the more complex, elegant end of the spectrum and is already hard to resist, yet it should easily evolve for 15+ years or more. The blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, all raised in 35% new oak.
The 2022 Rouge from Domaine de la Solitude (Pessac-Léognan) reveals a gourmand, fresh bouquet of cassis, mulberries and flowers. Moderately weighted, supple and satiny, it's perfectly balanced with a juicy core of fruit, velvety tannins and bright acids, concluding with a fresh, sweet and penetrating finish. This blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot matured for 18 months in a combination of new (35%) and used barrels. It is a charming, exquisite wine.

This is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, and it has seen one year in oak barrel for the élevage, using about 20% new oak. I get pretty red berry and cranberry fruits on the nose, with just a touch of desiccated, confit concentration to them, and a layer of chocolate, tobacco and coffee bean from the oak, but the overall impression is one of rather loose fruit, at least on the first bottle tasted. A second bottle – which saw more air – shows more coherence and sweetly perfumed oak. The palate is supple, nicely polished, integrated and already approachable, the delicately dried fruits wrapped up in tannin through the middle and finish. An attractive, initially easy-going style, rather juicy too, although the grained tannins in the middle and finish suggest this will benefit from some cellar time. Tasted twice. The alcohol on the label is 13.5%.
Shows a mulled edge, with red currant and cherry fruit melding with tea, singed sandalwood and rose hip accents. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2029. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 10,000 cases made.
