Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it’s rich and textural, with an ample core of fruit, beautifully powdery tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish. Youthfully reserved, like many 2020s, this nonetheless stands out as the finest Clos des Lambrays of the 21st century—for now!

A fresh red, with black currant and black cherry flavors shaded by floral, iron, earth and spice elements. Fluid and on the elegant side, with a solid underlying framework of tannins. Turns a bit leaner on the finish -- a good sign for future development. Best from 2027 through 2048. 1,300 cases made, 360 cases imported.

Winery Notes

Originated from the almost monopoly of the estate within the Grand Cru, the Clos des Lambrays by Domaine des Lambrays is a wide ownership, if you compared it to Bourgogne scale. The plot is far from homogeneous. Its smooth slopes offer a diversity of sun exposures that are key for the complexity of the wine. At the top, the Clos is composed mainly of marls whereas the bottom clay mixes with limestone. Wine is being aged within the Domaine’s underground cellars in oak barrels, half of which being renewed every year. As Clos des Lambrays is the heart of the Domaine des Lambrays, this website is dedicated to it.
