Opens with lush, dense aromas and flavors of black currant, black cherry, blueberry and violet. Support comes by way of vibrant acidity and a dense layer of refined tannins. A bit monolithic, with ample fruit that persists on the lingering aftertaste, where a mineral element emerges. Best from 2030 through 2050.

The 2023 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, a blend of 11 identified sectors within Clos des Lambrays that are farmed and vinified individually, opens with aromas of cassis, black plum and bitter orange mingled with rose petals, dark chocolate and subtle application of new oak. Full-bodied, ample and fragrant, it exhibits a generous core of fruit framed by powdery tannins that are largely, though not entirely, enveloped by the rich fruit. Laden with vibrant acidity, the wine concludes with a long, perfumed finish. It was vinified with a high proportion of whole bunches and matured in 60% new oak for some 20 months.

Winery Notes

Originated from the almost monopoly of the estate within the Grand Cru, the Clos des Lambrays by Domaine des Lambrays is a wide ownership, if you compared it to Bourgogne scale. The plot is far from homogeneous. Its smooth slopes offer a diversity of sun exposures that are key for the complexity of the wine. At the top, the Clos is composed mainly of marls whereas the bottom clay mixes with limestone. Wine is being aged within the Domaine’s underground cellars in oak barrels, half of which being renewed every year. As Clos des Lambrays is the heart of the Domaine des Lambrays, this website is dedicated to it.
