The 2009 Nuits St. Georges Clos de la Marechale shows the more virile side of Pinot. Black cherries smoke, tar and licorice all come to life in this intense, broad-shouldered wine. Layers of fruit build to the muscular, virile finish. The wine’s masculine personality is quite a contrast to the seductiveness of Mugnier’s other 2009s. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.
