Golden amber color. Aromas and flavors of chocolate maple nut fudge, brandied cherries and spiced apples, pencil shavings and conditioned wood, and bread crust and rooibos with a satiny, tangy, fruity medium-to-full body and a warming, refreshing, medium-long finish with notes of frosted wheat, mango chutney, cola float, and minerals. An even, nicely balanced Bourbon with solid flavors and drying wood and mineral notes.

Country

United States

Of all the New World wine countries, perhaps the one which has demonstrated the most flair for producing high quality wines - using a combination of traditional and forward-thinking contemporary methods - has been the United States of America. For the past couple of centuries, the United States has set about transforming much of its suitable land into vast vineyards, capable of supporting a wide variety of world-class grape varietals which thrive on both the Atlantic and the Pacific coastlines. Of course, we immediately think of sun-drenched California in regards to American wines, with its enormous vineyards responsible for the New World's finest examples of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot based wines, but many other states have taken to viticulture in a big way, with impressive results. Oregon, Washington State and New York have all developed sophisticated and technologically advanced wine cultures of their own, and the output of U.S wineries is increasing each year as more and more people are converted to their produce.

This needs a few minutes to open up to reveal a rich caramel aroma. The palate is markedly sweet and spicy, showing vanilla, caramel and a mix of cinnamon and cayenne. Adding water tones down the heat and brings a flavor or cinnamon red-hot candies wrapped in caramel squares. A vanilla accent smooths over the long exit. It's a small-batch Bourbon finished in toasted new oak.

Bold cask notes of pencil shavings, crushed clove, vanilla butter cookies, and charcoal mingle with maple-poached fig, prune, and roasted pear fruit. Rich and velvety, more golden fruit of fig, apple, and pear cascade on the palate spiced with ginger root and grated nutmeg. (Great Value) - 2023 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE

Winery Notes

For the first time ever, Elijah Craig is doing finished bourbon: fully matured Elijah Craig Small Batch is filled into a new barrel that has been toasted and “flash-charred” and left to take on additional sweet and oaky flavors for a few weeks and up to a few months. Heaven Hill says the bourbon will be allocated, but plans to increase availability going forward.
