Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The 2016 Lomba dos Ares is the village red from different parishes of Manzaneda (Soutipedre, Seoane and Langullo), and the old vineyards (mostly over 60 years old) are planted with a myriad of grapes, mainly Mencía, yes, but also Grao Negro, Negreda, Garnacha Tintorera, Bastardo and Aramón. The full clusters fermented at cold temperature with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in 300- and 500-liter used French oak barrels and one 3,200-liter oak vat for ten months. This is super expressive, with a flinty sensation; it’s a little reductive, serious and more insinuating, with a chiseled palate and a strong mineral sensation, long and tasty. This is a superb Lomba dos Ares, the finest vintage to date. 5,500 bottles were filled in December 2017.

Galicia
The northern Spanish wine region of Galicia is a fascinating one indeed, and is most definitely a wine region to keep your eye on today and in the near future. Once an important center of viticulture and wine trade, Galicia suffered from a huge and devastating economic depression in the 19th century, leaving many of the vineyards untended and useless. However, the 20th century saw various organizations pour money into Galician wine making, thus rebooting the wine industry of this relative wet and windy region on the Atlantic coast. Today, the region is being celebrated for its superb and flavorful blended white wines, made from native grape varietals such as Albarino and Caino Blanca, and is continuing to rebuild itself and regain former glories.

Winery Notes
Lomba dos Ares is Curro & Jesus’ village wine from their oldest and steepest vineyards on the west bank of the Bibei - the river that separates Ribeira Sacra from Valdeorras. Averaging about 70 years old, these sites offer a patchwork of indigenous varieties, with Mencia comprising the largest share and varying amounts of Bastardo, Caiño Tinto, Negreda, Garnacha Tintorera, Aramón, etc. Lomba dos Ares in a natural yeast co-fermentation of these varieties aged in neutral 300-500L French oak barrels.
