Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Perfumed aromas of garden florals, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry compote and red currant, supported by musk, star anise and crushed herbs, with hints of violet and cedar. A concentrated core of plush red plum and raspberry on the palate, layered with blackberry, blueberry, anise, musk and black pepper. Textural, mature, velvety tannins carry an elegantly long finish.
Known as Syrah in most countries around the world, and Shiraz in Australia and certain other regions of the New World, this grape varietal has proven over the centuries to be one of the most powerful and flavorful red wine grapes there is. It is now one of the planet's most widely grown grapes, and is a favorite with wineries as a result of its robustness and versatility. It isn't easy to identify many characteristics of this particular varietal, due to the fact that it is highly versatile and shows significant differences in flavor and character depending on the terroir it is grown in, and the climatic conditions of the region. However, Syrah is most widely associated with full bodied, strong and loud red wines, packed full of fruity and spicy flavors, held in a beautifully deep red liquid.

Whilst most of Australia consists of arid deserts and dense bushland, the oceanic coasts to the south of the country have a terrain and climate ideal for vine cultivation and wine production. It took several decades of failed attempts at the end of the 18th century in order to produce vines of a decent enough quality for making wine, but since those first false starts, the Australian wine industry has continued to grow and grow. Today, wine production makes up for a considerable part of the Australian economy, with exports in recent years reaching unprecedented levels and even overtaking France for the first time ever. Whilst the greatest successes in regards to quality have been the result of the Syrah grape varietal (known locally as Shiraz), Australia utilizes several Old World grapes, and has had fantastic results from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Chardonnay and more. As the Australian passion for locally produced wine continues to develop, wineries have begun experimenting with a wider range of grape varietals, meaning that nowadays it isn't uncommon to find high quality Australian wines made from Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Viognier, amongst many others.

Barossa
The Barossa Valley in Australia is one of the New World's most interesting wine regions, having been established in the late 19th century by German settlers. The region benefits enormously from the relatively temperate climate, which ranges from being hot on the lower parts of the valley, to quite cool as the altitude increases on the valley slopes. Barossa Valley produces mostly Shiraz wines, and has become one of the key Australian regions for this distinctive grape varietal which has gone on to be a major grape for the Australian wine industry. Despite suffering from a poor reputation in the mid 20th century, by the 1980s, plenty of unique and forward-thinking wineries set up in Barossa to take advantage of its excellent climate, and set about producing the excellent red and white wines which the region is famed for today.

“This wine is produced from a selection of low-yielding, dry-grown Shiraz vines from the Hill of Grace vineyard that are, at present, too young to be considered for inclusion in the Hill of Grace vintages.” Matured in French oak for nearly two years, the 2017 Hill of Roses Shiraz has vitality and electricity and life. It has all of the Eden Valley hallmarks: blueberry and bacon fat, fresh acidity, licorice, allspice and deli meat. The wine is savory in the mouth, but it feels plush—despite being only medium-bodied. An interesting wine of amalgams, it is certainly incredibly distinct, and with length of flavor that plows across the palate. Looking at it beside the Hill of Grace, it is evident that the old vines bring with them a certain gravitas of tannin, which, at present, the Hill of Roses does not possess. Having said that, the two wines are different sides of the same coin, and each will have its fans.

When the 28-year-old vines mature further, this two-barrel, single-plot rarity from older cuttings is destined for Hill of Grace. From the same site, it has familial flavours of darker berry and currant, tobacco pouch, tea leaf and liquorice, but different energy and flow. Undulating powdery tannins contrast with Hill of Grace’s seamless, spicier tannins from Centenary and Ancestor vines. Summer truffle and smoky black garlic purée notes bring an umami depth of flavour to this polished Shiraz.
