Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

This 100% barley shochu was made by hand using white koji before being distilled just once in an atmospheric pot still which brings out richer aromas and allows for optimal aging. It was aged for more than 11 years, spending some time in ceramic pots and some time in enamel tanks. The ceramic aging allows some oxidation, which creates a rich, umami-laden drink that shines on the rocks or diluted with hot water.
Sake is a Japanese rice wine made from fermented rice, water, yeast, and koji mold (Aspergillus oryzae), which converts starch into fermentable sugars. Unlike beer, which undergoes sequential fermentation, sake is brewed using multiple parallel fermentation, where saccharification and fermentation occur simultaneously. It typically ranges from 13-16% ABV and is classified based on rice polishing ratio and whether brewer’s alcohol is added. Sake styles vary widely. Junmai sakes, made without added alcohol, tend to have a rich, umami-driven character, while Ginjo and Daiginjo sakes—brewed with highly polished rice—offer delicate, aromatic profiles with notes of melon, pear, and floral elegance. Futsushu, an everyday table sake, is less refined but widely consumed. Sake can be enjoyed chilled, warm, or at room temperature, depending on the variety. With a smooth texture and balanced acidity, it pairs well with sushi, tempura, grilled fish, and a variety of Japanese dishes.

All over Japan, farmers and wine producers take the production of alcoholic beverages including plum wine and sake very seriously. It is an industry which dates back well over a thousand years, and is held in high esteem in this far east country, where plum wines and sake often accompany meals and are used for ceremonial purposes. Whilst plum wine is produced in a relatively similar way to grape based wines, sake requires a complex process more akin to the brewing of beer, except using a rice mash instead of other grains. The rising popularity of both of these drinks in the west has seen the drinks industry in Japan increase dramatically over recent years, and both quality and quantity has risen alongside demand, and is expected to rise further.
