My last remaining magnum of Lamy’s 2010 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly showed superbly, offering up complex aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil and green pineapple mingled with nuances of smoky reduction, wet stones and bee pollen. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with an elegantly textural attack that segues into a deep core of fruit, animated by a bright spine of acidity, this is a brilliant wine from one of the Côte de Beaune’s greatest vignerons.

The 2010 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly, poured by Olivier Lamy himself, sports a waxy, undergrowth-scented bouquet that demanded a couple of minutes to gain requisite delineation and detail (and therefore I would not begrudge decanting this for an hours or so). There is clearly good concentration on the palate and it is certainly well balanced. It possesses the race and nervosité of the finest 2010 whites, the ripeness of the growing season betrayed by the lightly honeyed texture with a dash of white pepper on the finish. Excellent.

This possesses a classic En Remilly nose of intense and airy citrus notes that include lemon, lime and grapefruit as well as background notes of white flower and wet stone where the latter element can also be found on the wonderfully energetic, intense and precise flavors that are blessed with plenty of mouth coating dry extract. This sense of vibrancy continues onto the clean, dry, focused and linear finish that delivers impressive persistence.
