91-93 The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Poisets is the sophomore release and was planted in the mid-Thirties. This is one cuvée where I felt there were signs of over-ripeness on the nose, a touch smudged compared to others. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit, fine grip, quite dense and powerful with a grainy-textured saline finish. There is a lot here considering that this is Village Cru.

There are ripe aromas of pomegranate, mulberry and black cherry. Careful canopy management ensures that the wine retains its balance, and it shows a pronounced mineral salinity and a hint of rose petals. The texture balances impressive density with freshness to create a lively feel. In 2010, Lignier purchased this parcel with friends. Planted in 1934, the old vines are susceptible to millerandage and in 2020 gave three barrels instead of the hoped-for four. The fruit, however, was super-concentrated.

88-91 Earthier and even more sauvage-inflected aromas include those of various dark berries and in particular black raspberry. The dense, seductive and caressing medium-bodied flavors contrast with the rustic, robust and powerful finish that is moderately austere and borderline chewy. This is also potentially very good, but it will definitely require at least some patience.
