The Mullineux 2023 Swartland Kloof Street Rouge is an easy-drinking "heritage blend" showing juicy red berry fruit, soft spice and gentle tannins. Syrah (pepper, blackberry), Grenache (strawberry, white pepper), Cinsault (red cherry, floral lift) and Tinta Barocca (dark plum, structure) combine to deliver a supple, fruit-forward wine with broad appeal. With about 30% whole-bunch fruit and Swartland sunshine behind it, the wine balances ripeness with freshness.

The 2023 Kloofstreet Street Rouge, named after Chris and Andrea Mullineux's first house's street in Swartland, is built around Syrah and Grenache. It has a slightly reductive bouquet, dark berry fruit mixed with rooibos and bergamot. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit laced with white pepper, a fine backbone from the Tinta Barocca, and just a hint of licorice towards the finish. Delicious and unbeatable value for money.

Winery Notes

This seductive blend of Southern Rhône varieties has a perfumed nose of violets, spice and purple fruit. The medium to full bodied, food-friendly palate is finely textured with firm but approachable tannins and a fresh, lingering finish. Best served at 16 to 18 °C.
