La Providence Rouge Chemin Faisant VdF 2024 750ml

In northern Provence at 280-300 meters above sea level, the marine-originated vineyard soils are mainly sandy, silty, stony, rich in limestone and low on clay. The farming is certified-organic and the harvest is manual. The Cinsault is a 0.6-hectare plot of 40-year-old vines, isolated from the rest of the domaine and surrounded completely by woods. The Syrah is a 1.2-hectare parcel of about 30 years old. The two varieties were picked and vinified separately. The whole clusters of Syrah went through a carbonic maceration in stainless steel tank with daily pumpovers; it was aged for 6 months in steel. The Cinsault was destemmed and spontaneously fermented in a mix of 8-hectoliter concrete eggs and steel tanks with foot treading and punchdowns; it was aged for 6 months in 11-hectoliter concrete eggs. The final wine was blended and bottled without fining or filtration and with its only, very small dose of sulfur (2 g/hl). Though Domaine La Providence and its vines are within the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence AOC, the wine is a Vin de France because the blend doesn’t fit the appellation requirements.
