Soy sauce, olive brine, peat, honey, oloroso Sherry, brewer’s yeast, bread dough, barley malt and cigar smoke in the bouquet. The flavor that magically includes the innate intense peatiness of Islay malts and the masterly employment of oak barrels phase defines “classy Islay.” Concludes sweetly, without sacrificing the tangy, astringent peatiness that is inherent. Gorgeous. (Best Buy)

Bold and intense nose of smoked seaweed, leather polish, toasted barley, and a blast of preserved lemon. On tasting the malt starts with sweet cereal grains and charred barrel before relaxing into flavors of a bonfire at the beach. (Finalist) (Tried & True) - 2021 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE

2018 Best Islay Single Malt Scotch. Dark amber color. Aromas of fresh whole wheat baguette, toasty custard tart, sweet potato, smoked apricot preserve, and concord grape with a round, crisp, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a warming, elegant, long violet, cinnamon, seaweed, charred pastry, night blooming jasmine, and black tea finish. A terrific Islay Single Malt that leaves the imbiber with a lingering, traveling flavor experience.

This has been Lagavulin’s principal expression for more than 30 years. Iodine, rich peat, and caramel on the early nose, with sherry, sea salt, and charcuterie. The oily, briny palate offers peat and a medicinal note, along with black tea, Seville orange, toffee, cinnamon, and a hint of smoked fish. Peat embers and hot tar in the lengthy, spicy finish. Deeply satisfying! - Spring 2020
