Another delicious and great-value Haut-Médoc from the Giscours team. Perfumed and scented on the nose with liquorice and blackcurrants. Juicy and alive, supple and smooth on the palate. Lots of life and energy with a sleek, silky frame and such purity of expression. Crystalline, bright and so appealing. Very easy to drink with cool blue fruit touches, mouthwatering acidity and a minty, crushed stone freshness. A beautiful, delicate and finessed expression with such succulence and nuance. 3.70pH. A yield of 27hl/ha. Ageing 12 months, in barrels.

There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. Whilst Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are renowned for their acidity and astringency, strong fruit and spice flavors and full body, Merlot grapes are notably rounded, soft, fleshy and lighter on tannin. The combination of these two varietals, along with a small percentage of (commonly) Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc, is the perfect balancing act â€“ the two grape varietals cancel out each others weaker points, and accentuate all that is good about the other.

Generous and medium-bodied on the palate, showing lovely fluidity and firmness without any heaviness. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 39% merlot and 6% cabernet franc. Already appealing but better in two more years. Drink from 2027.

The 2022 Haut-Médoc de Giscours is a gorgeous, wonderfully inviting wine. Cinnamon, orange peel, cedar, white pepper, mint and chalk add lovely aromatic dimension. This is the first vintage with a dollop of Cabernet Franc in the blend, which really seems to open the aromatics. Time in the glass brings out the wine's fleshiness. This gracious, silky Haut-Médoc is an absolute delight.

The 2022 Haut-Médoc de Giscours has turned out very nicely, offering up aromas of sweet cassis, wild berries and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, suave and vibrant palate with good depth and persistence. Bottled in March-April 2024, this cuvée sees a reductive élevage that preserves all its fruit intact in the bottle.

Black cherries, new leather, leafy herbs, and some spicy, graphite-like notes all emerge from the 2022 Château Giscours Haut Médoc, a terrific Haut-Médoc from this estate with a pure, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It would make one hell of a house red and should have a solid decade of longevity. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc.

The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, with delicate red and black berry flavors and a soft texture, finishing on a floral note.
