Pours a pretty coral color with a generous fizz. Opens with plenty of bright red berry fruit and a hint of brioche. On the palate, there’s strawberry, raspberry, yellow peach, and lemon pith. A whiff of yeast on the finish. (Finalist) (Tried & True) (Great Value) – 2019 ULTIMATE WINE CHALLENGE

Champagne Blend

The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. Their unique characteristics are partly due to the careful blending of a small number of selected grape varietals, most commonly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These grapes, blended in fairly equal quantities, give the wines of Champagne their wonderful flavors and aromas, with the Pinot Noir offering length and backbone, and the Chardonnay varietal giving its acidity and dry, biscuity nature. It isn't unusual to sometimes see Champagne labeled as 'blanc de blanc', meaning it is made using only Chardonnay varietal grapes, or 'blanc de noir', which is made solely with Pinot Noir.

Region

Champagne

The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

Mouthwatering and elegant, with its fine, persistent mousse supporting flavors of raspberry coulis, blood orange sorbet and vanilla wafer, plus minerally smoke and chalk accents. Spiced finish. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Drink now.

James Suckling

The toasty signature of the house fuses nicely with bright red fruits on the nose. The palate delivers an eerily accurate strawberry fruit flavor, with tartness, too. Extremely attractive style. Drink now.

Dark, vivid pink. Ripe red berries, rose oil and tangerine on the nose, plus a subtle note of toasty lees. Bitter cherry and berry skin flavors give way to softer raspberry in the middle, with a tangy blood orange nuance adding cut and lift. Packs a punch but shows very good clarity and delineation, finishing round, smooth and quite long.

Decanter

Composed of 40-50% Pinot Noir (including 10% of red wine), 30-40% Pinot Meunier (of which 10% is red wine) and 10-20% of Chardonnay, including 30% of reserve wine. Rosé Impérial has a spontaneous bouquet of red berries, rose petal, white pepper, and touches of lemon. Fleshy and juicy, the texture is perfectly balanced, moderately weighted, and clear. Finishes long and minty. Dosage: 9g/L.

Winery Notes

Rosé Impérial is a spontaneous, radiant, romantic expression of the Moët & Chandon style, a style distinguished by its bright fruitiness, its seductive palate and its elegant maturity. TASTING NOTES *Pink with amber highlights *A lively, intense bouquet of red fruits (wild strawberry, raspberry, cherry) Floral nuances of rose *A slight hint of pepper *The juicy, persistent intensity of berries (strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant) *The fleshiness and firmness of peach *The freshness of a subtle note of menthol
