The 2024 Quintaluna is a village white from Nieva, produced with grapes from their own vines planted with a massal selection from the old vines. Since 2022/2023, all the grapes for Quintaluna come from their own vineyards. In 2024, they lost a good part of the crop from frost (the temperature got down to minus-seven degrees Celsius, which killed 70% to 80% of the crop!). Nieva has deep sandy soils, and the wines are crystalline, fresh and citrusy. The full clusters were pressed, and the must fermented with full lees in small stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts. It was kept with lees in the fermentation vessels for nine months. It has a serious, clean and characterful nose, elegant, nuanced and complex, subtle and insinuating. The wine is vibrant and fresh, with contained ripeness and 12.5% alcohol. It finishes dry, with a chalky feeling. This is the finest vintage for Quintaluna that I can remember. 50,100 bottles produced. It was bottled in the summer of 2025.
