Nice plummy aromas of dark cherries, strawberries, dried herbs and refined spices. Juicy and expressive on the palate, with round, fleshy fruit and fine-grained tannins. Still fairly structured but fruit-forward at the same time. A blend of 63% merlot, 29% cabernet sauvignon, 5% cabernet franc, 2% carmenere and 1% petit verdot. Drink from 2026.

There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. Whilst Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are renowned for their acidity and astringency, strong fruit and spice flavors and full body, Merlot grapes are notably rounded, soft, fleshy and lighter on tannin. The combination of these two varietals, along with a small percentage of (commonly) Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc, is the perfect balancing act â€“ the two grape varietals cancel out each others weaker points, and accentuate all that is good about the other.

The 2023 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is an absolute delight. Soft contours wrap around a core of plum, black cherry, new leather, licorice, lavender, spice, incense and gravel. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. This fruity, supple Merlot-driven Pauillac is alluring. It's a gorgeous second wine that does everything a wine in its peer group should do, namely: provide tons of immediacy and pure drinking pleasure. I loved it.

Ripe black cherry and chocolaty fruits emerge from the 2023 Pastourelle De Clerc Milon, a Merlot-dominated second wine that's fleshy, sexy, and loaded with pleasure. Medium to full-bodied, it has chocolate, tobacco, and leafy herb-driven nuances, with soft tannins and outstanding length on the palate. Drink this pleasure bomb over the coming 15-20 years. Drink 2026-2045.

Plum and black cherry. Round and smooth, a nice generous weight on the palate, rich and ripe black fruit with some crunchy cranberries too. Stylish, hints of both sharpness and ripeness giving a push/pull of flavour and texture. Clean and precise, a nice balance and ease of approachability. Some sweetness as well as cool blue fruits. 2% Carménère and 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

The blend is 63% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Carmenere. The alcohol is 14.2%.
