All destemmed and brought up in barrel, the 2023 Côte de Nuits Villages La Croix Violette is deeper ruby/purple-hued and reveals a powerful nose of darker berries, plums, licorice, and violets. It brings the fruit and texture, and while ripe, it stays pure and lively on the palate. There are some firmer tannins here, as well as some heat on the finish, but this has tons of persistence and length, and I like it. Give bottles a year or so and drink through 2033. Drink 2026-2033.
