91-94 A deft application of wood frames riper aromas of roasted plum, mocha and newly turned earth. There is again very fine volume to the more concentrated bigger-bodied flavors that also culminate in a bitter pit fruit inflected and youthfully austere finish. This backward effort is very much constructed to repay longer-term cellaring.

From five rows near the southern end of the Clos, on the way to Grands Echézeaux, that extend from the Nationale up the slope to Les Maupertuis. These 50-year-old vines are planted in a combination of clay and limestone, giving a wine that is supple, fresh, with an agreeably forward red and black berry fruit, plus a texture which is supple and approachable, yet not lacking in substance.

Rich and structured; it is powerful, round and fresh. Its fruity notes (cherry, raspberry), licorice and sandalwood give it great depth and breadth.
