Bananas foster, maple baked oatmeal, and banana bread batter are indulgent aromas. The flavor follows through with unctuous notes of caramelized tropical fruits, burnt sugar, cocoa, and integrated earthy funk. The velvety smooth texture adds to the luxuriousness of the overall profile. (Finalist) (Great Value) – 2021 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE

Wine Enthusiast

The subdued aroma is woody, with just a hint of vanilla. But the palate tells a more complex story, opening with oak and vanilla before rounding to dark fruit, a fleeting hint of pineapple and dusty cocoa powder. Cinnamon and cayenne sparks emerge on the long, warming finish. Made primarily with Barbados rum blended with a smaller amount of older Jamaican rum (aged 10 to 15 years). (Best Buy)

Golden amber color. Aromas and flavors of baked pear and raspberry nougat, clover honey soaked baked dates, bananas foster, and menthol and cedar with a velvety, dryish medium-to-full body and a long finish with suggestions of bananas foster, baked apple and sweet spices, vanilla cream, and claro tobacco leaf. Intensely sweet baked fruit flavors and aromas make for a nice sipper and an even nicer mixer.

Winery Notes

The rich and intense styles of Jamaica and Barbados come together in a flavorful blend of exotic fruits and spicy notes, thanks to Planteray’s expert blending of column and pot still rums from Barbados with the funky notes of pot still Jamaican rum. Original Dark offers a smooth and profound structure, making this rum the ideal companion for cocktails. Also available in a recyclable eco-pouch with a 2.8L capacity for both professional and home mixologists.
