Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.

This is a new project from Feudi di San Gregorio CEO Antonio Capaldo. The Tenute Capaldo 2017 Greco di Tufo Goleto is named after a white stone monastery that frames the background of this vineyard site. Following years of intense experimentation at the Feudi winery, with a dozen or so commercial bottlings of single-vineyard expressions of both the Greco and the Fiano grapes from various pinpoint geological sites spread across Irpinia, Antonio and his team are ready to unveil their best performing wines. It should not go unnoticed that this wine is a Greco. In the ongoing battle of supremacy between Campania’s two leading white grapes, it seems that Tenute Capaldo has put its bets on Greco, known for its immediate freshness and encouraging aging record. Will Greco become one of the Noble Whites of Southern Italy? The answer here seems to be yes. Antonio affirms: “Greco is the most important variety we have here in Irpina.” Starting with the 2019 vintage, this wine will be bumped up to Riserva status (the vines are 70 years old and planted in calcareous and sulfur-rich soils). Both the 2017 and 2018 vintages are characterized by hot spells during the summer months.
With only 5,000 bottles made during this first release from 2017, the wine shines with beautiful luminosity from the inside out. The bouquet is extremely chiseled and fine at this young stage, boasting etched sea breeze and mineral notes that define what we love most about Campania wines. Those aromas are tightly bound and nervous now, and this bodes well for the future evolution of the wine. In my experience, a great Greco (take the Pietracupa 2010 Greco di Tufo G as an example) can hold strong for as much as 20 years. For this reason, I feel confident in recommending a long drinking window.
Greco Bianco is an ancient white grape variety primarily grown in southern Italy, especially in Calabria and Campania, where it produces the esteemed Greco di Tufo DOCG. Its name reflects its Greek origins, as the grape is believed to have been brought to Italy over 2,500 years ago by Greek settlers.
What makes Greco Bianco unique is its rich texture, aromatic intensity, and ability to age gracefully. It produces full-bodied wines with naturally high acidity, offering a balance of freshness and structure. Typical flavors include ripe stone fruits (peach, apricot), citrus, almond, and floral notes, often accompanied by a distinctive minerality derived from the volcanic soils of Campania. There are few countries in the world with a viticultural history as long or as illustrious as that claimed by Italy. Of course, it was the rise of the Roman Empire which had the most lasting influence on wine production in Italy, and their influence can still be felt today, as much of the riches of the empire came about through their enthusiasm for producing wines and exporting it to neighbouring countries. Since those times, a vast amount of Italian land has remained primarily for vine cultivation, and thousands of wineries can be found throughout the entire length and breadth of this beautiful country, drenched in Mediterranean sunshine and benefiting from the excellent fertile soils found there. Italy remains very much a 'land of wines', and one could not imagine this country, its landscape and culture, without it.

The beautiful region of Campania, located in the 'shin' of Italy's boot, has been an important center for viticulture and wine making for thousands of years. Indeed, archaeologists believe that wine making was happening in Campania as long ago as 1,200 BCE, making this one of the oldest wine regions on earth. By the time the Roman Empire starting expanding, Campania became the world's most important wine producing region, and the hundred or so native grape varietals which flourish in the mineral rich soils near the coast became the key ingredient in many of Rome's legendary classical wines. Today, the wine industry in Campania is booming once more, following a drop in the region's reputation in the 1970s, and is gaining awards, recognition and new fans each year.

Pale golden-tinged yellow. Very gently oaked aromas and flavors of vanilla and nutmeg complement pomaceous orchard fruit and botanical herbs. Closes long and lemony. Made from 60- to 70-year-old 100% Greco vines grown in the commune of Tufo, this is the first vintage of this wine, made by the owner of Feudi di San Gregorio but under a different name. Aged 80% in oak and 20% in amphora. Ought to age fairly well.
Winery Notes
Greco grapes originate from selected vines within a 2,5 ha parcel in the San Paolo area – within Tufo town – and namely in the contrade Cicogna, Laura e Nassano. Here the vineyards, over 30 years old, grow near to sulphureous mines and are cultivated following different historic methods, still largely preserved.
Harvest is done by hand and generally happens between the first and the second week of October, depending on vintage characteristics. Fermentation happens in stainless steel tanks; then, for the following year, 80% of the cuvee is aged in gently roasted tonneaux and the remaining 20% in amphora. Then, for another year, the wine rests in the bottle before release.
