There are around 30 barrels of Trapet’s 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a lovely wine that mingles notes of wild berries with hints of dark chocolate, exotic spices and violets. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it’s deep and lively, with powdery tannins and a long, perfumed finish. This derives from eight different parcels spread throughout the appellation.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is vibrant on the nose, featuring generous raspberry and cranberry and a touch of chalk dust and singed earth, quite complex for a "mere" Village Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with filigreed tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Very elegant and refined, and the pure red berry fruit is lent spiciness by the 30% stem addition. Excellent.

Brothers David and Nicolas Rossignol have revitalized this historic Burgundy domaine, converting completely to biodynamics, and creating wines of great beauty, nuance and classicism. This Gevrey-Chambertin is a great example of their style, from the best Burgundy vintage in a generation to boot!
