The purple Malbec variety grapes which now grow all over the Old and New Worlds had their origins in France, where they are one of the few grape varieties allowed to be used in the highly esteemed blended wines of Bordeaux. Matured for 12 months in barrels and foudre, the 2023 Golden Reserve Malbec is a solid overview of Luján de Cuyo drawn from vineyards in Agrelo, Perdriel, Las Compuertas and Vistalba. Ripe red fruits, tobacco and discreet woody aromas mark the nose, followed by a svelte mouthfeel and an energetic finish with grainy tannins.
