Mesmerizing aromas of peaches, apricots, cream and vanilla with undertones of crushed stones. Medium to full body with a growing intensity on the palate. Chewy and phenolic tension, which is ever so finely grained. Fantastic length and focus. A super sweet wine. Clearly the best of South Africa. Tight and concentrated. Drink or hold.

A pale gold color, the 2015 Vin de Constance Natural Sweet Wine has strong, precise aromas of golden raisins and orange marmalade. The palate shows great balance between sweetness, alcohol and acid and is sweet but not as overly sweet as many other sticky wines. Wow, this is delicate with generous floral tones and is really delicious. The grapes were harvested in different tries to select fresher berries earlier at the beginning of the harvest in order to maintain acidity levels in the wine, while other berries were harvested later in the season to increase sweetness. This wine captures the essence of Vin de Constance and was aged in a combination of 50% new French oak, Hungarian oak and French Acacia barrels.

The 2015 Vin de Constance is limpid silver-gold in the glass. It has a bouquet of acacia honey, marmalade and pressed yellow flowers, plus a slight adhesive note in the background; I cannot recall a Vin de Constance with such intense aromatics. The palate is viscous on the entry, and a vital bead of acidity lends balance and freshness. This is an all-consuming, multidimensional wine with marmalade and dried quince notes mixed with Moroccan spices toward an unctuous finish that leaves your head spinning. Awesome - but it is not the most tensile Vin de Constance I have tasted.

This sweetie features a gorgeous bouquet of orange blossom and juniper flavors, while the mouthfilling palate carries dried mango and candied apricot notes, accented by hints of quince paste, honeysuckle and sweetened green tea. Rich and intense, but with piercing acidity delivering balance. Long and complex. Drink now through 2030. 2,000 cases made, 200 cases imported.

Pure gold in color. The nose presents an enticing encounter, followed by precise yet delicate aromas of white flowers, ripe citrus and touch of rosewater and almonds. The palate is in perfect harmony with a luscious mouthfeel. Flavors of creamy stone fruit, litchi, citrus zest and a lively spice abound creating an ideal balance. It concludes with a vibrant yet complex long finish.

The Muscat grape has been grown and cultivated for centuries all over Europe, and in more recent years has become something of a flagship varietal for many New World countries. It is widely admired for its versatility and for the fact that it can be successfully used for the production of many different styles and types of wine. In eastern and central Europe, it is most commonly associated with elegant sweet dessert wines, further west it is used for bright and strong dry white wines, and it is also famous for the superb sparkling wines it produces, full of elegant bubbles and a mineral-rich flavor which compliments its natural 'grapey' character. Muscat grapes are generally agreed to be one of the oldest varietals in the world, and this goes some way to explaining the seemingly vast differences the fruit shows in various parts of the world.

Today, the most popular grapes by far are Chenin Blanc, which produces the most recognizable wines of South Africa. However, also popular are many of the Bordeaux varieties of red and white grape, along with relative newcomers, such as Pinotage, which grow exceptionally well in the coastal terroir.
