This balanced white is clean and pure, with a refreshing profile, but also shows depth, with flavors of apple and peach, as well as hints of lanolin that linger on the minerally finish, bringing you back for another sip. Best from 2021 through 2028. 4,500 cases made, 900 cases imported.

Intriguing aromas of orange peel, nutmeg, gunpowder and lemon pith. Medium-bodied with silky texture and a crisp, long finish. Fresh, elegant and supple. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
Winery
Baumard's regular Savennières bottling comes from their 6-hectare Clos Sainte Yves vineyard between the Clos du Papillon and Roche aux Moines. The vineyard's soil profile is of shale, sand and sandstone. The grapes are whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures. The wine then spends 9 months on the lees in tank before being bottled.

Varietal: Chenin Blanc

The green skinned grapes of the Chenin Blanc varietal are used for a wide range of different wines. In their native home of France, they are used for the production of some excellent sparkling crémants, or allowed to develop noble rot, which intensifies their natural sweetness and produces some unusual and intense flavors In most countries around the world, though, Chenin Blanc grapes are used for the production of high quality still white wines, which have the ability to express the finer features of the terroir they are grown on. Many winemakers like to age their Chenin Blanc wines in oak or chestnut barrels, which adds an extra layer of complexity to the wines. These grapes thrive best in heavy clay soils, and ripen late in the season, when their natural flavors can come through fully.
