The level of concentration here provides the stage for blackberry, plum and earth flavors, laced with a hefty dose of vanilla and smoky oak. Well-integrated, with a fresh feel and dense tannins meshing rather than clashing with all the elements. Terrific length. Best from 2023 through 2045. 24 cases imported. ... More details

More discreet wood can be found on the much spicier and more elegant nose of various dark berry fruit aromas that are also distinctly floral. The beautifully textured and reasonably refined mid-palate of the medium-bodied flavors possesses impressive density as well as excellent persistence on the firm, balanced and youthfully austere finale. This robust and overtly powerful Chapelle should age well but should be reasonably approachable after 6 to 8 years.

The 2015 Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet. Usually I find Damoy's wines a little too extracted for my personal taste, although here there is admirable Pinot Noir expression. An omen for the future? The palate is medium-bodied with black pepper-tinged red berry fruit, a slight dustiness developing towards the finish, but there is respectable concentration and persistence on the finish.

COLOR: Deep Ruby. AROMA: Aromatic with florals, black currant liqueur, earth and hints of oak spice. TASTE: Ripe flavors of dark fruit enveloped with earthy minerality. Rich, medium weight, well-balance with an elegant finish.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Regularly described as being the grape varietal responsible for producing the world's most romantic wines, Pinot Noir has long been associated with elegance and a broad range of flavors The name means 'black pine' in French, and this is due to the fact that the fruit of this particular varietal is especially dark in color, and hangs in a conical shape, like that of a pine cone. Despite being grown today in almost every wine producing country, Pinot Noir is a notoriously difficult grape variety to cultivate. This is because it is especially susceptible to various forms of mold and mildew, and thrives best in steady, cooler climates. However, the quality of the fruit has ensured that wineries and vintners have persevered with the varietal, and new technologies and methods have overcome many of the problems it presents. Alongside this, the wide popularity and enthusiasm for this grape has ensured it will remain a firm favorite amongst wine drinkers for many years to come.

Region: Burgundy

In the beautiful French wine region of Burgundy, there is archaeological evidence to suggest that there has been viticultural activity going on for at least two thousand years. To add to this, there are early written records praising the exceptional wines produced in this region dating back to the 6th century, making Burgundy one of the oldest established and still operational wine regions in the world. The region is most commonly associated with fine red wines, with Pinot Noir being the primary grape varietal grown on its rolling hillsides and gently sloping valleys. However, Chardonnay grapes are also produced in abundance for the production of their fine white wines, with both varietals benefiting greatly from the region's warm, hot summers and the superb soils which make up the terroir.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
