A gentle floral hint, almost of jasmine, precedes the subtle red-cherry note of this wine. Coming in with slender grace, the palate is lightly edged by vanilla that softens the bracingly fresh red-currant note. The structure is graceful, yet enduring and firm. Freshness and fruit mingle in this fine edifice, shimmering with concentration and poise. (Editors' Choice) ... More details

Aromas and flavors of ripe plums, strawberries and walnuts, as well as burnt orange and flowers. Some meat, too. Full-bodied, layered and juicy with lots of fruit and round, powdery tannins. Flavorful finish. Needs three to four years to come together, but impressive at this young stage. Drink after 2023.

Rated 94 by Wine Spectator
The aromas reveal ample new oak, yet this red is fleshy and packed with black cherry, plum, earth, tar and spice flavors. Lively acidity and well-integrated tannins provide structure, while the finish sings with fruit, spice and mineral. Best from 2024 through 2040. 1,870 cases made, 450 cases imported.

Revisited in bottle, the 2018 Château Corton-Grancey Grand Cru exhibits notes of dark berry fruit, cherries, forest floor and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and elegantly muscular, it's the most introverted and youthfully reserved of Latour's Corton bottlings. It's a blend based on Bressandes.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir translates as 'black pine' in French, and is named as such due to the extremely inky color of the fruits, which hang in bunches the shape of a pine cone. Wineries often struggle with Pinot Noir vines, as more than most red wine grape varietals, they fail in hot temperatures and are rather susceptible to various diseases which can be disastrous when hoping for a late harvest. Thanks to new technologies and methods for avoiding such problems, however, the Pinot Noir grape varietal has spread across the world to almost every major wine producing country. Why? Quite simply because this is considered to be one of the finest grape varietals one can cultivate, due to the fact that it can be used to produce a wide range of excellent wines full of interesting, fresh and fascinating flavors Their thin skins result in a fairly light-bodied wine, and the juices carry beautiful notes of summer fruits, currants and berries, and many, many more.

Region: Burgundy

In the beautiful French wine region of Burgundy, there is archaeological evidence to suggest that there has been viticultural activity going on for at least two thousand years. To add to this, there are early written records praising the exceptional wines produced in this region dating back to the 6th century, making Burgundy one of the oldest established and still operational wine regions in the world. The region is most commonly associated with fine red wines, with Pinot Noir being the primary grape varietal grown on its rolling hillsides and gently sloping valleys. However, Chardonnay grapes are also produced in abundance for the production of their fine white wines, with both varietals benefiting greatly from the region's warm, hot summers and the superb soils which make up the terroir.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.

Appellation: Cote De Beaune

The beautifully and unforgettable French region of Cote De Beaune has been revered throughout the centuries, and recognized as one of the key producer's of the world's finest white wines. The region is highly respected as an excellent producer of Chardonnay wines, and the Chardonnay grapes which grow there, on the southern slopes of the Cote d'Or, are packed full of the unique and powerful characteristics of this very special terroir. Interestingly, Cote De Beaune produces more red wine than white wine, despite its white wines being so famous. The red wines of Cote De Beaune are mainly made from Pinot Noir, but are relatively very light and fruity in their character, perfect for sipping on a warm, sunny day alongside a wide range of foods.
