This dry Oloroso has a swoon-worthy nose of warm maple frosting and pecan pie. It's fresh on the palate, balancing weight and restraint with aplomb. Salty, briny, nutty flavors of green olive turn toastier and darker on its almond-inflected finish. This is top-notch dry Sherry to enjoy now and forever. Drink through 2060. ... More details

Despite the sweet and delicate face of the Emperatriz on the label, this is one of the richest and most concentrated Sherries in the Lustau portfolio. Aromas of caramelized plum and nuts dominate, a chalkier scent in the background. Generous and round, it feels almost oily and thick, the chalky element giving tension, cutting the sweetness and adding an intriguing complexity. Great Oloroso.

Rated 92 by Wine Advocate
The NV Emperatriz Eugenia Very Rare Oloroso is produced from Palomino from a solera created in 1921 to celebrate the visit of French Empress Eugenia de Montijo. It reveals an old wine, brown-colored, with a nose of noble woods, hazelnuts and varnish, a medium- to full-bodied palate, round, glycerin-rich and ample, ending dry and a bit warm. Drink 2013-2016.

This offers a smoky edge, with singed sandalwood and forest floor hints melded with notes of bitter chocolate, powdered ginger, buckwheat and toffee. The long finish shows lovely cut and persistence. Drink now. 100 cases imported.
Winery
The Emperatriz Eugenia Oloroso features concentrated flavors and aromas of smoky wood, fruit, prunes, and bitter chocolate. This fine, rare wine is smooth and warming, leaving a clean, light, and crisp finish. It is ideally served at cool room temperature as an aperitif and is perfect with strong flavored cheeses, jamon, prosciutto or as a digetif, with nuts, after a meal.

Country: Spain

Ever since the Phoenicians and Romans brought their knowledge of vine cultivation to Spanish soils, the country's culture has grown alongside wine production, with wine being a vital part of Spanish identity and Spanish traditions. Each region of Spain has a wine quite distinct from the others, and it is produced by smallholders and families as much as it is by large companies and established wineries. From the relatively mild and lush regions of La Rioja to the arid plateaus that surround Madrid, grapes are grown in abundance for the now booming Spanish wine industry, and new laws and regulations have recently been put in place to keep the country's standards high. By combining traditional practices with modern technology, Spanish wineries are continuing to produce distinctive wines of great character, flavor and aroma, with the focus shifting in recent decades to quality over quantity.
