About M. Trinchero Vineyard and Winery

In 1948, Mario Trinchero brought his family from New York City to the small town of St. Helena in California's Napa Valley to begin new lives as vintners at a winery called Sutter Home. In 1998, to celebrate the family's 50th anniversary in Napa, and to honor their father's memory, they introduced two ultra-premium Napa Valley appelation wines--M. Trinchero Founder's Estate Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Recently, in addition to these fine wines, they have added a super-premium line of wines that are produced from grapes harvested throughout California's prime coastal regions. These award-winning varietal wines, under the M. Trinchero "Family Selection" designation, are a 1998 Chardonnay, 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1997 Merlot.

M. Trinchero Winery Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Trinchero Mario's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon displays a dark garnet color and a beautiful nose of bright cherry and currant fruit, cedar, and sweet vanilla (from oak aging). The medium-to-full-bodied palate, beautifully structured with supple tannins, is lush with bright dark cherry and cassis flavors rounded out by sweet oak tones. This rich, balanced, elegant Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon is delicious now, but should age beautifully for 8-10 years.

M. Trinchero Winery Reserve Chardonnay

This marvelous, Burgundian-style Chardonnay offers a complex, intense, toasty, butterscotchy, yeasty aroma, with underlying pear, peach and honeysuckle-scented fruit. It has a thick, viscous mouthfeel with deep, unctuous fruit flavors. The finish is long and full, with a wonderful interplay of toasty oak, butter, and yeast flavors, complemented by an underlying minerally tone. This rich, beautifully composed wine is delicous now, but will age gracefully in bottle for up to five years.

M. Trinchero Winery Selection Cabernet Sauvignon

This rich, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon displays a beautiful varietal aroma of bright, ripe cherry fruit complexed by scents of cedar, green olive, and sweet oak vanillin. The compact palate offers fresh, ripe cherry and blackcurrant fruit flavors with overtones of olive and vanilla, balanced by supple, well-integrated tannins and firm acidity. This beautifully composed cabernet sauvignon is impressive already, but will develop further complexity and richness with several year's additional bottle aging.

M. Trinchero Winery Selection Chardonnay

This superb value in California coastal chardonnay displays an attractive lemon-yellow color with greenish tints. It offers a pleasing, complex aroma of ripe apple and citrus fruit enhanced by buttery tones and toasty vanilla oak scents. The rich, round palate features fresh, creamy, apple, pineapple, and butterscotch flavors nicely rounded out by toasty oak tones and balanced by crisp acidity.

This rich, complex, deeply fruited Merlot offers enticing aromas of wild cherry and red plum fruit mingled with scents of herbal spice and oak toast. The softly textured palate features spicy cherry and plum flavors with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. This flavorful, beautifully structured Merlot will develop further complexity and richness with several year's additional bottle aging.

M. Trinchero Winery Selection Sauvignon Blanc

This distinctive, barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc displays a complex aroma of toasty, spicy oak, malolactic creaminess, and bright melon and fig fruit accented by grassy/herbal tones. Its rich, crisp, spicy melon, fig, and citrus flavors are nicely rounded out by toasty oak tones, culminating in a long, spicy finish. Enjoy this superb white wine with rich seafood and poultry dishes.

M. Trinchero Winery Selection Pinot Noir

Produced from the south Napa vineyard, this luscious Pinot Noir balances ripe black cherry and blueberry with spice and vanilla. It's smooth, supple and hint of leather.
