The 2021 Gigglepot Cabernet Sauvignon hails from a cooler year in McLaren Vale, and the comparative levity and spaciousness when tasted alongside the 2020 is evident. This has cassis and raspberry, layers of dark/milk chocolate and shortcrust pastry. Juicy, dense, plump and lush all describe the style and curve of this wine.

The 2021 'Gigglepot' is an inky colored Cabernet Sauvignon which delivers aromatics reminiscent of black olive, tar, coffee grounds, cocoa and suggestions of blackberry pie. There are deep, concenreated flavors that coat the mid palate with flavors of graphite, boysenberry pie and mocha with a slight saline streak, which grab your attention, as does the exceedingly long finish. This has lovely fruit weight and viscosity through the long finish.

Combine this with the experimental and daring approach Australian wineries have in regards to wine production, and it becomes clear why Australia has relatively quickly become something of a world leader when it come to exporting their produce to Europe and America. The Shiraz and Chardonnay grape varietals have produced the most successful and broadly appreciated results over the decades, however, in more recent years wineries have begun experimenting with a much wider range of grape varietals, demonstrating how Australian wineries are continuing to adapt and develop alongside international palates.
