Terre Nere Winery - History and Current Winery Information
Terre Nere was established at the very beginning of the twenty first century, and aims to display the finest features of the exceptional volcanic terroir it uses for the cultivation of its vines. The first few vintages released by the winery received wide critical acclaim, with many stating that the altitude and conditions of the vineyards produce wines which are an equal match to those of Burgundy or Barolo. As of 2010, the Terre Nere winery has been certified organic, and the owners and wine masters responsible for their sumptuous produce go to great lengths to uphold their reputation as one of Italy's finest organic wine makers. In recent years, the winery has extended its production rates, and now produces almost 150,000 bottles per year.
Terre Nere Winery - Owners & Winemaker
Terre Nere wines are produced by Marco and Sebastian de Grazia, who recognized that there were few finer appellations on earth than those on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. The owners began making efforts to turn their entire winery over to organic production in 2007, and in 2010 finally received full organic certification. Their belief and philosophy is that by interfering as little as possible in the production of their wines and the cultivation of their grapes, they can express more of this stunning and unique terroir.
