The NV Brut Rose Premier Cru is fabulous. Rich, ample and beautifully resonant in the glass, the Premier Cru dazzles from the very first taste. Unlike the Blanc Premier Crus in this range, the Rose has more body and textural intensity, all of which make for an absolutely compelling wine. I love the vinous intensity here. Orange peel, raspberry and kirsch linger on the Pinot-driven finish. In a word: sublime. ... More details

There's a lovely, creamy viscosity to this elegant rosé Champagne, carrying the finely meshed flavors of steeped cherry, candied pink grapefruit zest, graphite and spice. Fresh and balanced.

The NV Brut Rose Premier Cru is intriguing in the way it floats on the palate in an ethereal expression of freshly cut flowers and berries. This is an understated, cooly elegant wine with great balance and class. Clean, chalky notes mark the finish. The Brut Rose Premier Cru is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot.

Oeil de perdrix color. A cool, pretty and relatively elegant nose consists of raspberry, cherry, yeast and a whiff of quinine. The effervescence supporting the utterly delicious flavors is pronounced if not exactly foamy before culminating in a bitter cherry pit, moderately dry and sneaky long finish. This won't wow you with its complexity or its refinement but I found it to be refreshing and gulpable in the best sense of the term.
Winery
Fruit from stalk-stripped Pinot Noir and picked by hand, this vintage reveals the old-fashioned know-how of Veuve Fourny: manual grape-stomping and long maceration. Blended with hand-harvested Chardonnay, the Pinot reveals its delicate nose: red fruits and black fruits, whereas in the mouth it stays fresh... To be served before the meal, accompanied by « sweet-savoury » dishes or at the end of a meal served on red berries...

Varietal: Champagne Blend

There are few wine regions of the world with as much influence or fame as that of Champagne in France. The sparkling wines from this special area have long been associated with excellence and magnificent flavors, and much of their success has been down to the careful blending of fine grape varietals in order to achieve spectacular results. Most commonly, Champagne wines use both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietal grapes in more or less equal measures, often boosted by a small quantity of Pinot Meunier for extra bite. The Chardonnay varietal grapes offer their acidity and flavor to the bottle, and help with the dryness associated with quality in this type of wine. The Pinot Noir, on the other hand, gives strength to the wine, and gives Champagne its distinctive 'length' of character.

Region: Champagne

The region of Champagne in the north-easterly part of France has, for hundreds of years, been known for the production of high quality, elegant and characterful sparkling white wines. Champagne wines continue to dominate the market for sparkling wines, and are the envy of many countries, with plenty of producers attempting to emulate their unique practices. The chalky, mineral-rich soils of this high altitude region are ideal for growing the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Petit Meunier varietal grapevines which cover the region and are usually blended together in the production of Champagne wine. The climate of Champagne is far cooler than other famous wine regions in France, but the wineries which are found all over the area have generations of expertise, and have no problems in producing vast quantities of their famous produce for the world market.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.
