A honey hue and rich vanilla aroma mark this six-year-old rye whiskey. The palate nods to its 100% rye grain mash bill, opening with brisk cinnamon and allspice sparks that round into mellower vanilla and caramel midpalate, finishing long and spiced. Adding water brings more vanilla to the fore and adds a toasted grain note to the finish. A store pick is a private barrel whiskey selection made by the store owner, staff, or outside group (think bourbon club or Facebook group) of a single barrel of whiskey. Staff at Saratogawine.com tasted through dozens of single barrel samples in early 2022 to pick our favorite Piggy Back Rye that exhibited as much spice-forward Rye character as possible, this spirit makes the perfect Manhattan!

Whilst there are several strains of native grape varietals in the United States, it was the introduction of the European species which prompted the country to begin producing wines on a large scale.
