Distinct shellfish notes. Plenty of volume, a fleshy sunny character on the palate, freshened by lingering salinity to finish. Top example of AP Chablis in 2022. From 40ha of vines, with three distinct plots, including one from a lovely vineyard to the east around Viviers, with vines planted in the 1960s, but all of the vines have plenty of age. ... 89-91 There is slightly better Chablis typicity present on the aromas of mineral reduction, iodine and cool white fleshed fruit. There is also slightly better volume and richness to the delicious medium weight flavors that possess a lovely sense of underlying tension, all wrapped in a refreshing, clean, dry and sleek finale. This is very good for its level plus it should reward a few years of keeping if desired.

88-90 The 2022 Chablis Village, due for certification with the 2023 vintage, has a steely nose with touches of lime and apple blossom. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Quite classic and cool in style. A bit short, though, with sufficient salinity to keep the saliva flowing. Fine.
Winery
Fleshy and elegant bouquet revealing citrus, white fruits and flowers aromas. The mouth is fresh, supple underscored by mineral.

green grapes

Varietal: Chardonnay

In the past couple of decades, the sales of wines made with Chardonnay grapes has risen and fallen more than once. For many people, this green skinned grape was marred by a poor reputation for bland and uninteresting wines, a great shame considering the fact that Chardonnay grapes have proven time and time again to be interesting, versatile and full of surprises. Most commonly, fine Chardonnay wines are buttery, smooth and creamy as a result of malolactic fermentation, yet with hints of tropical fruits and orchard fruits such as apples and pears. What is most remarkable about Chardonnay grapes, however, is the fact that unlike many other 'white' grapes, they are exceptionally good at holding the characteristics of their terroir in the bottle. As such, despite their fluctuating reputation, this is one grape varietal which produces constantly surprising, impressive and varied wines.

Region: Burgundy

The beautiful region of Burgundy in France is famously home to some of the most exquisite red wines to be found anywhere on earth, and is most commonly associated with the silky, elegant and flavorful Pinot Noir varietal wines which are commonly produced there. However, the superb and mineral rich soils fed by the Rhone river, and the long hot summers and mild autumns of the region produce a wide variety of fine grapes, and as such, Burgundy produces plenty of different wines which are equally as good as the produce the region is famed for. The region of Burgundy itself has a wine-making history which stretches back at least two thousand years, and as such, it comes as no surprise that the wineries which fill the dozens of controlled appellations of the region rely heavily on traditional methods and techniques when it comes to producing their famous wines.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
