Blackcurrants, chalky minerality, and subtle floral notes all emerge from the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Feather, which is made by Randy Dunn and sourced from the Weinbau, Dionysus, Bacchus, Sagemoor, and The Benches vineyards. With medium to full-bodied richness as well as fine tannins, it’s a more elegant, streamlined Cabernet than past vintages yet shines for its purity and balance. It’s beautifully done and should have two decades of longevity.

Notes of ripe blackcurrants, cherry chocolate, mocha, crushed walnuts and stones. Medium- to full-bodied with a meaty structure and a dense array of velvety tannins expanding on the palate, carrying the dark fruit through the lingering, chocolatey finish. Very attractive and well made. Drinkable now, but better after 2023.

Generous blackberry aromas and flavors with a hint of sage and an appealing earthiness, this classic Cabernet Sauvignon displays well-integrated oak spice that makes for a wonderfully complex wine. Rich and expressive on the mid-palate, the tannins are firm, yet refined. The result is a multi-layered mouthfeel with dark fruit flavors that linger across a long, satisfying finish.

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

From the valleys of California and Chile to the rolling hillsides of the Bordeaux region of France, the one red wine grape varietal you will find in abundance is the Cabernet Sauvignon. This darkly colored grape has been cultivated since the mid 18th century, when it was borne from a cross of fine Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc varietals. Since then, it has spread around the world and has been received with pleasure by wineries looking for a varietal which delivers excellence of flavor and aroma, whilst being hardy enough to resist frost and rot and other such difficulties. Washington state is a fascinating region when it comes to American wine production, with the majority of their produce coming out of the desert-like eastern half of the state. This expansive region has a unique climate produced by the rain shadow of the Cascade mountain range, and here we find over ninety-nine percent of the state's vineyards which hold a wide range of classic grape varietals including Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and others. Today, there are over forty thousand acres in Washington under vine, and the industry of the state is going from strength to strength due to the increasing popularity of the wines which are produced here.
