The 2021 Fleurie comes from vines on granitic soil located at 470m altitude, 1.7-hectares split over two parcels. The élevage is for 9 months with no racking. This has a slight reduction on the nose at the moment, but you can still detect beguiling red berry fruit, wilted rose petals and hints of kirsch - a little Pinot Noir like. The palate is well-balanced with fine tannins. Nicely chiseled, fresh and poised with a twist of sour cherry towards the finish. Excellent. ... More details

Still a bit yeasty on the nose but also with plenty of wild strawberry fruit, this manages to be daringly light (only 11.5% alcohol) and have an elegant structure in which the gentle tannins are already neatly integrated. Long fresh, wet stone finish. From the Grand Pre and La Tonne sites in Fleurie. From organically grown grapes. Matured in cask for nine months, then bottled unfiltered. Drink or hold.
Winery
Indigenous yeast fermentations in concrete vats at low temperatures, to preserve fresh fruit flavors and a delicate tannic structure. After fermentations are complete, fruit is slowly pressed, over a 24 hour period, using an ancient vertical press Julien acquired in the Côte D’Or. Aged for up to 11 months in 3 - 9 year old Burgundy barrels so the charming fruit and granitic soil flavors aren't lost.

Region: Burgundy

In the beautiful French wine region of Burgundy, there is archaeological evidence to suggest that there has been viticultural activity going on for at least two thousand years. To add to this, there are early written records praising the exceptional wines produced in this region dating back to the 6th century, making Burgundy one of the oldest established and still operational wine regions in the world. The region is most commonly associated with fine red wines, with Pinot Noir being the primary grape varietal grown on its rolling hillsides and gently sloping valleys. However, Chardonnay grapes are also produced in abundance for the production of their fine white wines, with both varietals benefiting greatly from the region's warm, hot summers and the superb soils which make up the terroir.

Country: France

Year in, year out, France enjoys its prestigious reputation as the producer of the finest wines in the world. With a wine making history which spans several thousand years and owes its expertise to the Romans, it comes as little surprise that this most highly esteemed of the Old World wine countries continues to impress and enchant both novices and experts to this day. Despite the rise in quality of wines from neighboring European countries, not to mention the New World, the French wine industry continues to boom, with up to eight billion bottles being produced in recent years. However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.
