The NV Cuvée des Moines Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru offers a deep, clear and aromatic but subtle and elegant bouquet of ripe cherries and brioche notes. Sourced in Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy and Mailly-Champagne, this 100% Pinot Noir comes onto the palate beautifully elegant, pure and fresh and reveals a firm but very delicate and lingeringly salty structure and complexity. This is a powerful but refined and refreshing mineral Pinot with a long life ahead. Impressive.

The red fruits are nicely delivered in a fresh format here, and this has a bright strawberry, pink-grapefruit and cherry nose. The palate has a good presence and persistence of peach fruits while the tannins roll smooth through the finish. Drink now.
Wine Spectator
A ripe and leesy example, featuring steeped black raspberry fruit, layered with peach yogurt and pastry flavors and grilled nut and candied pink grapefruit zest notes. Steely acidity sticks out a bit, despite the fine and creamy mousse. Disgorged December 2017. Drink now. 200 cases made, 125 cases imported.

Varietal: Champagne Blend

There are few wine regions of the world with as much influence or fame as that of Champagne in France. The sparkling wines from this special area have long been associated with excellence and magnificent flavors, and much of their success has been down to the careful blending of fine grape varietals in order to achieve spectacular results. Most commonly, Champagne wines use both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietal grapes in more or less equal measures, often boosted by a small quantity of Pinot Meunier for extra bite. The Chardonnay varietal grapes offer their acidity and flavor to the bottle, and help with the dryness associated with quality in this type of wine. The Pinot Noir, on the other hand, gives strength to the wine, and gives Champagne its distinctive 'length' of character.

Region: Champagne

The region of Champagne in the north-easterly part of France has, for hundreds of years, been known for the production of high quality, elegant and characterful sparkling white wines. Champagne wines continue to dominate the market for sparkling wines, and are the envy of many countries, with plenty of producers attempting to emulate their unique practices. The chalky, mineral-rich soils of this high altitude region are ideal for growing the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Petit Meunier varietal grapevines which cover the region and are usually blended together in the production of Champagne wine. The climate of Champagne is far cooler than other famous wine regions in France, but the wineries which are found all over the area have generations of expertise, and have no problems in producing vast quantities of their famous produce for the world market.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
