Lots of blue fruits, ground pepper, candied violets, and chalky minerality emerge from the 2018 Ingenuity, a pure, medium to full-bodied, seamless beauty with fine tannins and no hard edges. Like all Jordan's 2018s, it holds onto a terrific sense of freshness and elegance. The blend is 36% Petite Sirah, 30% Syrah, 22% Mourvèdre, and the rest Grenache, and comes mostly from the estate Paderewski Vineyard. ... More details

Glass-staining ruby. Dark berry preserves, fruitcake, toasty oak, espresso and a hint of vanilla on the expansive nose. Stains the palate with ripe black and blue fruit, mocha, candied licorice and floral pastille flavors, while black pepper and smoky mineral notes add cut and back-end lift. Deeply concentrated but lively as well, thanks to a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes on a youthfully tannic note, with strong, spicy persistence. Raised in French oak barrels and puncheons, 52% of them new.

The 2018 Ingenuity is a blend of 36% Petite Sirah, 30% Syrah, 22% Mourvèdre and 12% Grenache, aged 19 months in 52% new French oak. Opaque in color, it explodes with gregarious blackberry and black cherry jam underpinned by dark, savory spices and wafts of purple flowers. The palate is full-bodied and firm, with loads of lush, spicy dark fruits and just enough juicy acidity to highlight the floral perfume on the long finish. 828 cases were made.

Rustic aromas of herb, tar and tart berry show on the nose of this blend of 36% Petite Sirah, 30% Syrah, 22% Mourvèdre and 12% Grenache. Elderberry and black currant provide more ripe qualities to the palate, where chalky tannins lead into a finish awash in dried oregano and thyme. There, the elements will grow more compelling with time. Drink now through 2034. (Cellar Selection)

Attractive fruit, showing some dark-berry and mushroom character. Medium-to full-bodied with firm tannins and a juicy finish. 36% petite sirah, 30% syrah, 22% mourvedre, and 12% grenache. Needs a year or two to open. Drink after 2024.
Winery
Syrah leads this luscious blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre to play nicely with its signature dash of Petite Sirah. Though the majority of its fruit comes from both Paderewski and Catapult Vineyards, the Petite Sirah hails solely from one west-facing limestone area on our Paderewski Vineyard.

Region: California

California as a wine producing region has grown in size and importance considerably over the past couple of centuries, and today is the proud producer of more than ninety percent of the United States' wines. Indeed, if California was a country, it would be the fourth largest producer of wine in the world, with a vast range of vineyards covering almost half a million acres. The secret to California's success as a wine region has a lot to do with the high quality of its soils, and the fact that it has an extensive Pacific coastline which perfectly tempers the blazing sunshine it experiences all year round. The winds coming off the ocean cool the vines, and the natural valleys and mountainsides which make up most of the state's wine regions make for ideal areas in which to cultivate a variety of high quality grapes.

Country: United States

For three hundred years now, the United States has been leading the New World in wine production, both in regards to quantity and quality. Wine is actually produced in all fifty states across the country, with California leading the way by an enormous margin. Indeed, as much as eighty-nine percent of all wines to come out of the United States are produced in California, where the fertile soils and sloping mountain sides, coupled with the long, hot summers provide ideal conditions for producing high quality, European style red, white and rosé wines. With over a million acres of the country under vine, the United States sits comfortably as the fourth largest wine producer in the world, where imported grape varietals from all over the Old World are processed using a successful blend of traditional and contemporary techniques.
