Fabulous concentration and interplay of creamy richness with mineral freshness. The intensity and purity of the stony finish must be tasted to be believed! A complete, captivating white that showcases a wealth of dimension and depth. Offers ripe apple, apricot and green fig flavors layered with warm spices, ground ginger and honeysuckle on a full, broad palate, shored up with salty mineral depth and a gentle lacquer of toast. The exquisitely textured palate also delivers jasmine and smoke elements powered by salty mineral energy. Finessed and built to last. Drink now through 2035.

Also all Marsanne from the eastern side of Hermitage, raised in 15% new demi-muids, the 2020 Ermitage De L’Orée is full-bodied and concentrated, yet stays tight and reserved on the palate. Giving up beautiful white currant, crushed stone, spice, honeysuckle, and charcoal aromas and flavors, it’s a serious, age-worthy Hermitage that needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years, and it will evolve for over two decades.

A superbly balanced example of this selection, the 2020 Ermitage de l'Orée—sourced from the clay soils of Les Murets—features scents of crushed stone, toasted grain, white peach and ripe melon. Showing no ill effects from its recent bottling at the beginning of September, it's full-bodied, silky and elegant, with a long, harmonious finish.

Region: Rhone Valley

In southern France, one of the primary wine regions responsible for the production of a fine and varied range of wines is the Rhone Valley. Split into two large sub-regions, this expansive valley benefits from micro-climates which allow the wineries to grow a vast array of fine grape varietals. The northern region is the more limited one in regards to the amount of varietals grown, focusing predominantly on raising excellent quality Syrah, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier vines for their distinctive and elegant range of wines. The southern region, on the other hand, has a beautifully Mediterranean climate, and is home to dozens of grape varietals which are used to produce white, red and rosé wines, alongside some of the most famous and widely loved blended wines in the world.
