A rich, toasty overtone brings you into the glass of this satiny rosé, offering flavors of baked white cherry and raspberry fruit, saffron, brioche and citrus peel, all deftly meshed with vibrant acidity. Elegant. Disgorged 2017. Drink now through 2029. 100 cases imported.

This bottle of the 2005 Brut Rosé was disgorged in 2017 with ten grams per liter dosage. It's a lovely wine that offers up complex notes of red apple, mandarin, white cherries, brioche and nutmeg. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, pure and vibrant, with a fleshy core of fruit, brisk acids, a refined mousse and lovely chalky grip on the finish. This is a serious, vinous rosé that numbers among the challenging 2005 vintage's successes.

For the first time in the maison’s history, the vintage release was switched, with 2006 released before 2005 which was considered austere and closed. Now the 2005 has turned into an impressively gastronomic style, with red berry fruit and amazing depth and concentration. Richness gives an oak impression but it is 100% stainless steel. Made from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, with 8% of red wine. Still compact, but with time it will flourish even more. Drinking Window 2020 - 2023.

The 2005 Rosé Millésimé is bright and effusive in the glass, with lovely aromatics that are immediately alluring. Orange zest, rose petal, spice, cedar and sweet dried cherry are all laced throughout. I would prefer to drink the 2005 over the next few years, as it is starting to show the first hints of maturity. Disgorged in 2017.

Varietal: Champagne Blend

Whilst Champagne sparkling wines are most commonly made with a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grape varietals, there are actually seven fine grape varietals allowed by French wine law for inclusion in the wines of this region. These include Arbanne, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and and Petit Meslier alongside the others, although these four are being used less and less in the modern age. Champagnes are normally blended wines, although the popularity of single variety 'blanc de blanc' Champagnes made solely with Chardonnay grapes, and 'blanc de noir' wines made only with Pinot Noir varietal grapes are becoming more and more popular. The blending process found in most Champagnes aims to take the finest points of each grape varietal and bring them together to produce spectacular, strong yet balanced results in the bottle.
