A wine that was reserved for enjoyment at the end of the family hunt from its inception in 1930 until commercialisation in 1950, this is made at a slightly lower pressure than the other Champagnes in the Roederer stable at 4 bar giving a creamier mousse. Grapes come from four plots in Avize with two in the centre and one on the border of Cramant and Ogier. Designed to be consumed as an aperitif wine when young, the Blanc de Blancs epitomises freshness and delicacy. Lively and elegant on the nose and palate, with a long mineral streak from start to finish. Sharp and thrilling, intense with lemon pastry flavours and a creamy round mouthfeel. Straight yet wide, rich but lean, direct yet juicy, this really offers a complex and very individual style that captivates from the first sip. Delicious. ... More details

Rated 94+ - Roederer’s Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2015 is a mid-slope cuvée from 4 plots with the chalkiest soils. Aged for at least five years plus six months post disgorgement, it is finished with an eight grams per liter dosage. An inviting and delicately fragrant bouquet of ripe Meyer lemon, white peach, elderflower and chalk dust introduce a wonderfully creamy, medium-bodied palate that is animated with vivid acid vibrancy that deftly unifies the pure citrus fruit at its core. Harmonious, refreshing and finishing with persistence and poise, this 2015 sticks the landing, so to speak. - The Wine Independent

Entirely from four plots the house has in Avize, the 2015 Champagne Blanc De Blancs pours a bright silver straw hue and is a forward vintage that’s more about its texture than primary fruit characteristics, with a pronounced chalky profile and notable tannin structure. The nose lifts with aromas of fresh white flowers, green, apple, and fresh pear. Medium-bodied with a structured core, it’s long on the palate and has a more grounded sensibility, with its refined mousse lifting it off the palate with a clean finish. I would prefer to give this another couple of years in the cellar and drink 2025-2035.

The 2015 Brut Blanc de Blancs Vintage is a soft, open-knit Champagne to drink now and over the next few years. Apricot, pear, dried flowers, chamomile, spice and light tropical notes all run through this expressive, pliant edition of the Roederer Vintage, which spent 34 months in oak. All the elements are nicely balanced. Dosage is 8 grams per liter.

Varietal: Champagne Blend

The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. Their unique characteristics are partly due to the careful blending of a small number of selected grape varietals, most commonly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These grapes, blended in fairly equal quantities, give the wines of Champagne their wonderful flavors and aromas, with the Pinot Noir offering length and backbone, and the Chardonnay varietal giving its acidity and dry, biscuity nature. It isn't unusual to sometimes see Champagne labeled as 'blanc de blanc', meaning it is made using only Chardonnay varietal grapes, or 'blanc de noir', which is made solely with Pinot Noir.

Region: Champagne

The region of Champagne in the north-easterly part of France has, for hundreds of years, been known for the production of high quality, elegant and characterful sparkling white wines. Champagne wines continue to dominate the market for sparkling wines, and are the envy of many countries, with plenty of producers attempting to emulate their unique practices. The chalky, mineral-rich soils of this high altitude region are ideal for growing the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Petit Meunier varietal grapevines which cover the region and are usually blended together in the production of Champagne wine. The climate of Champagne is far cooler than other famous wine regions in France, but the wineries which are found all over the area have generations of expertise, and have no problems in producing vast quantities of their famous produce for the world market.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
