If you find it hard to imagine how Southern Rhone wines can smell of Mediterranean herbs then you need to try this very striking Vacqueyras. It marries the herby character with a full body, crisp tannins and a zesty freshness. Quite serious dry tannins at the bold finish. A cuvee of 70% grenache with 20% syrah and the rest a mix of mourvedre, cinsault and carignan. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. ... More details

A fine, delicate style, light in tannin, with high acidity. Lovely piercing freshness and crunchy redcurrant fruit, finishing with some bay leaf bitterness.

Rated 90 by Wine Spectator
A perfumed, lifted style, with mineral purity pushing through violet, cherry and supple plum flavors. Lush and supple, with pencil shavings invigorating acidity to shore up the midpalate. The finish is marked by grilled sandalwood and incense. Drink now through 2028.
Vinous Media
Given the challenging vintage conditions, the 2021 Vacqueyras Cuvée Azalaïs is a success. Medium-intensity violet petals mingle with ripe red fruits and hints of mint. Medium-bodied and round, this 2021 red concludes with drive on the bright finish.

Region: Rhone Valley

In southern France, one of the primary wine regions responsible for the production of a fine and varied range of wines is the Rhone Valley. Split into two large sub-regions, this expansive valley benefits from micro-climates which allow the wineries to grow a vast array of fine grape varietals. The northern region is the more limited one in regards to the amount of varietals grown, focusing predominantly on raising excellent quality Syrah, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier vines for their distinctive and elegant range of wines. The southern region, on the other hand, has a beautifully Mediterranean climate, and is home to dozens of grape varietals which are used to produce white, red and rosé wines, alongside some of the most famous and widely loved blended wines in the world.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.
