The 2019 Rosso Conero Riserva Sassi Neri is a darkly alluring beauty with a dusting of cocoa, lavender, sweet tobacco and crushed blackberries. It washes across the palate with finesse, medium in weight and silky to the core, with tart wild berries and salty mineral tones, all under an air of violet flowers. While structured, there's a potency of primary concentration and just enough residual acidity to maintain a lively expression. The 2019 finishes lightly structured with a licorice tinge. A simply stunning integration of fruit and oak aging has taken place here, making the 2019 one of the most balanced vintages of Sassi Neri that I've ever tasted. ... More details

Varietal: Montepulciano

Montepulciano grapes are one of the most widely cultivated varietals in Italy, with vines growing in twenty of Italy's ninety five provinces. This varietal is renowned for producing high yields, making it popular with vintners looking for a relatively easy varietal to grow. Whilst the grapes tend to have a low skin to juice ratio, the skins themselves are remarkably high in tannins with a lot of pigmentation, which means they often produce rather well bodied wines with a beautiful deep, dark color The wines of Montepulciano grapes are most commonly associated with soft, rounded characteristics, with plenty of juicy, plummy flavors The wines are known for being very smooth and drinkable, and easy to match with a wide range of foods.

Region: Marche

The eastern wine region of Marche in Italy has long been the spiritual home of the Verdicchio grape, one of Italy's most distinctive and widely loved white wine grape varietals. The stunning mineral rich soils of Marche help these grapes reach full ripeness, expressing much of their excellent terroir in the bottle, and the warm Adriatic climate assists in producing fruit of extraordinary quality, ideal for fine wine production. This has been the case for almost three thousand years, as Marche is a truly ancient wine region, favored by several civilizations over the millennia who recognized the excellence of the soil, the native grape varietals and the climatic conditions. Today, the wine industry of Marche remains strong and robust, with over sixty thousand acres under vine, and dozens of quality wineries producing excellent white and red wines for international wine lovers.

Country: Italy

It isn't difficult to understand why Italy is famed not just for the quality of its wines, but also for the vast variety and range of characteristics found in the wines there. The terrain of the country varies wildly, from the lush rolling green hills and valley of Tuscany, to the sun drenched rocky coasts of Sicily, the mountainous and alpine regions of the north, and the marshy lowlands of the east. Italy really does have a little bit of everything. Combine this huge range of landscapes with an almost perfect climate for grape cultivation, and you have a country seemingly designed for viticultural excellence. The results speak for themselves, and it is clear to see that wine has become an inseparable part of Italian culture as a result of its abundance and brilliance. Each village, city and region has a local wine perfectly matched with the cuisine of the area, and not an evening passes without the vast majority of Italian families raising a glass of locally sourced wine with pride and pleasure.
