Lots of oaky barbecue sauce stuff on the nose, with ripe lush black fruit. Creamy texture with a pretty juicy finish. (Silver) - DWWA 2021
Winery
An intelligent and refreshing Merlot, somewhat out of the ordinary yet classically smooth and easy drinking. The tannins feel active and firm and hold tightly onto the opulent black fruit creating shape and balance. Acidity is taut and contributes a sensation of lightness and lift. An excellent match for roasted vegetables, gamey meats and dishes using sweet spices.

Varietal: Merlot

Today, Merlot is generally believed to be one of the most popular and widely planted grape varietals in the world, with expert estimates putting it just behind Cabernet Sauvignon in the top three most planted vines. Ask any winery anywhere between France and Argentina, and they'll tell you it is due to the grapes reliability, fantastic range of flavors and unique properties. Single variety Merlot wines are especially popular with companies wishing to target newcomers to the world of red wine, due to the fact that as Merlot has a low tannin content, and relatively little malic acid, the wines it produces are fleshy, well rounded and firmly in the 'medium body' category. The hot, sunny climate supports quite a wide range of grapes, but the grape varietals most widely grown across this large region are Sangiovese and Vernaccia, both of which are used in the production of Tuscany's most distinctive red and white wines. Since those times, a vast amount of Italian land has remained primarily for vine cultivation, and thousands of wineries can be found throughout the entire length and breadth of this beautiful country, drenched in Mediterranean sunshine and benefiting from the excellent fertile soils found there. Italy remains very much a 'land of wines', and one could not imagine this country, its landscape and culture, without it.
