The 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo Ginestrino is a blend of young vine fruit from the estate's four core holdings, plus Munie and a touch from Ornati, which is just outside the Barolo appellation. Medium in body and gracious, the Langhe Nebbiolo is just gorgeous. Bright acids perk up a core of red Nebbiolo fruit, crushed rose petal, mint and orange zest.

Ripe, red-fruited character with spiced citrus peel, cinnamon and dried flowers. Medium-bodied, dry and chalky with a vivid and fluid red berry palate. Flavorful finish. Drink now.
Wine Spectator
This red has some weight and breadth, with a core of cherry fused to firm, dusty tannins, while almond and a hint of menthol chime in. Moderately long. Drink now through 2028. 5,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.

• 100% Nebbiolo from selected parcels in the village of Monforte d’Alba. • Guyot trained vines planted from 1998 – 2007 to clay rich soils. • Steeply sloped vineyards lie between 200 – 400 m (660 – 1,480 feet) above sea level and have south, southwest, and southeast exposures. • Hand-harvested beginning mid October. • Aged in French oak for ten months. • First vintage was 1984.

Varietal: Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is not necessarily a particularly easy grape to cultivate. Indeed, its very late ripening time often means that yield is very low, and they are also quite susceptible to various diseases and forms of rot. However, in their native Italy and in many other countries around the world, wineries persevere with this varietal due to the fact that few other grapes can produce wines as wonderful, complex and flavorful as those made with the Nebbiolo grape. These grapes offer a beautifully pale red juice, packed full of intense flavors such as truffle, violet and prune, making them a real treat for serious wine drinkers looking for a sensory experience not to be forgotten. They are also renowned for their affinity for aging, which allows their strong tannins to mellow and compliment their stunning flavor.

The region is dominated by the mighty Alps which form the border between Italy, France and Switzerland, and the Moscato grapes that are grown in the foothills of this mountain range carry much of the Alps' flavors in their fruit, and are fed by crystal clear mountain waters. However, it is the Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera grapes which are the real stars of this region, and the highly respected wineries which cover much of Piedmont have generations of experience when it comes to processing and aging these grape varietals to produce the superb wines which come out of appellations such as Barolo and Barberesco.

Italy remains very much a 'land of wines', and one could not imagine this country, its landscape and culture, without it.
