A tempting spiciness on the nose lures you in. Rounded but not excessive. Fresh, well balanced with well-integrated acidity and a tapered finish. Gentle tension accentuates the spicy, tense style. 20% new oak. Drinking Window 2021 - 2025.

A top-flight effort from this Brotte-owned estate, Barville's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape features alluring scents of lavender, hickory smoke and purple raspberries. A blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, it's full-bodied and supple, creamy and lush, finishing long and silky.

This blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre is a showcase of Grenache's easy, juicy blackberry and preserved-strawberry flavors accented by a brambly, peppery edge of Syrah. Matured in a combination of French oak and inert vessels, it keeps primary, youthful fruit at the forefront but maintains a depth and solidness of structure. Freshly balanced in acidity and finishing on fine, furry tannins, it's ready now–2029.

Based largely on Grenache (there’s 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre), the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Domaine Barville offers a ripe, sexy, incredibly attractive style revealing loads of candied black cherry and strawberry fruits, notes of nori, iron, and pepper, ripe, supple tannins, and a great finish. Brotte consistently turns out impeccably made, balanced wines, and this is no exception. Drink it over the coming 10-12 years or more.

Attractive plum cake, licorice and spices. Some positive dry tannins on the full-bodied palate, where there is also quite lively acidity. Slightly drying at the meaty finish. Drink or hold.
Winery
Color: Ruby color with violet sheen. Nose: Marked by its terroir character of spices, black pepper, lavender, black cherries and blackberries. Palate: Elegant and well balanced, full-bodied, powerful with persistent aromas of red fruit and garrigue. This wine offers a great tasting pleasure and reward the most patients.

Region: Rhone Valley

There are few wine regions in the world with a history as long and illustrious as that of the Rhone Valley in France. For over two thousand years, wines have been produced in this region, benefited by the excellent, mineral-rich soils of the region, and the varied climate which allows a wide range of grape varietals to grow. The Rhone Valley is now split into two quite separate regions, with the north part being characterized by its cooler, continental climate and the limited number of grape varietals grown, and the southern sub-region being perfect for growing a wide range of grapes, and producing an exciting number of different wine styles. The Rhone Valley is associated with elegant, flavorful wines, and certain grape varietals such as Viognier and Syrah, which are adept at expressing the finer features of their terroir.
