Pale lemon-gold colored, the 2020 Doisy-Vedrines is a little closed to begin, opening out to reveal fragrant notes of jasmine, lime leaves and orange peel, with a core of apple pie and ginger snaps. The 2020 Doisy-Védrines has a more backward nose than the Doisy-Daëne and needs a little more coaxing. Dried honey and candle wax scents gently unfold in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a viscous opening and lovely weight, though not as concentrated as the Daene, yet there is a deft touch of spice on the aftertaste.

A bright, fresh Sauternes without a lot of weight, but some attractive honey, sliced-apple and pear character. Medium-sweet. Fresh finish.
Winery
Vivid, quite intense nose with a spicy savoury twist to the sweet expressive fruit. The sweet palate has a nice intensity, with butterscotch and caramel alongside the apricotty botrytis notes. Quite plump and lush.

Region: Bordeaux

Of all the wine regions in France, the mostly highly esteemed and famous is surely Bordeaux. Most commonly associated with their superb examples of blended red wines, usually made with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot varietals, Bordeaux consistently demonstrates that their mix of traditional and modern wine-making styles is the recipe for fame and success. The region benefits greatly from its humid climate, and the fact that its clay and gravel based soils are perfect for growing the fine grape varietals which flourish there. The region is split into quite distinct sub-regions, with the finest generally believed to be the Left Bank and the Médoc region, where many of the most well known chateaux are based and produce their wonderful red and white wines.

However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.
