Among the greatest sweet wines in the world. Let's get that straight. Only equalled by Germany. There is density and concentration sure, but the drying process of the grapes evinces an uncanny phenolic authority as much as the altitude of the vineyard sourcing and saline tendency of the volcanic soils, impart freshness. Despite the generosity of quince paste, torrefied almond and the bitter orange marmalade pithy finish, this is akin to an electric toothbrush whirring through the mouth and sweeping the sugar away to the point of palpable dryness. Brilliant!

Since those times, a vast amount of Italian land has remained primarily for vine cultivation, and thousands of wineries can be found throughout the entire length and breadth of this beautiful country, drenched in Mediterranean sunshine and benefiting from the excellent fertile soils found there. Italy remains very much a 'land of wines', and one could not imagine this country, its landscape and culture, without it.
