Readers looking for a great intro into this estate, as well as a terrific value, should check out the 2013 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Vieilles Vignes. Made from a concrete tank aged blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, this beauty offers lots of garrigue, cured meats, violets and licorice-laced dark fruits in a medium to full-bodied, seamless, balanced style. Similar in style to Clos des Fees release, only more forward and ready to go, it should drink nicely for another 7-8 years, and probably longer. ... More details

Winery
Wine naturally concentrated, but without excess, very aromatic. The silkiness of the tannins allows immediate pleasure but the wine only shows its true potential after 3 years in bottles. Ideal for keeping: 5 to 10 years.

Region: Languedoc Roussillon

Languedoc Roussillon is one of the world's most important wine regions, with an annual output which, amazingly, exceeds that of the United States, and which makes up for over a third of France's overall wine production. Languedoc Roussillon is also a hugely important region for wine history, and is widely regarded as probably the first part of France in which grapevines were cultivated, after many were introduced by the ancient Greeks several thousand years ago. The region is renowned around the world for having a dedication to quality which matches the quantity it produces, and the range of wines produced in Languedoc Roussillon is truly impressive, with red, white, dessert and sparkling wines all being made to high levels of excellence within the region.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.
