95-97+ In comparison to the Lieu-dit Saint Joseph, the 2020 Saint Joseph Vignes De L'Hospice sees 10-15% stems and punchdowns during the fermentation as opposed to pump overs. It’s more Hermitage-like, with cooler notes of cassis, graphite, and burning embers that develop with time in the glass. This concentrated, deep purple-hued beauty has a great mid-palate and enough structure to warrant a solid 7-8 years of bottle age. It will have over two decades of longevity and is a true “wow” wine. ... More details

Amazing nose of candied orange, ripe blackberry and smoke. Great balance of richness, precisely contoured fine tannins and strident minerality. Very long complex finish with so much smoky mystery. From a three-hectare single-vineyard that faces the hill of Hermitage from the opposite bank of the Rhone. Matured for 30 months in 100% small new oak casks. Drink or hold.

Region: Rhone Valley

The Rhone Valley of southern France is a particularly fascinating wine region, with a history that stretches back to at least six hundred BCE, when the ancient Greeks first began cultivating vines there. The region itself is split into two distinct sub-regions, with the northern sub-region being famed for its production of exceptional Syrah, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier wines, packed full of interesting character and expressing the terroir found there. The southern sub-region is home to an enormous variety of grapes, and produces red, white and rosé wines, and some of the world's most famous and adored blended wines. The continental climate of the region is ideal for growing grapes, and the winds which blow from the Central Massif help temper the heat in the vineyards, leading to very ripe fruits holding plenty of flavor.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
